GUN CALIBER DICTIONARY
Rifle
9.3X72R
The 9.3X72R is a rimmed cartridge intended for use in double rifles and single shots. Its 2.8346-inch case is impressive, but it is a mild cartridge that must not be confused with the much more powerful 9.3X74R. It should also not be confused with the obsolete 9.3X72R Sauer, which has the same case length and .366-inch bullet diameter, but has a larger rim and base diameter. The 9.3X72R uses a 193-grain bullet at 1950 fps, very adequate for driven boar at close range but lacking in power for larger game. — Craig Boddington
